The Thorgal universe
The Thorgal series, born in 1977 from the imagination of Jean Van Hamme (script) and Grzegorz Rosinski (drawing), has become a mainstay of French-Belgian comics. It blends adventure, Norse mythology and science fiction, in a realistic, emotionally rich style.
In recent years, the universe has been extended with Thorgal Saga, a collection of independent albums written by different authors. The 2024 album Wendigo, scripted by Fred Duval and illustrated by Corentin Rouge, is part of this collection.
Corentin Rouge: a fresh look at Thorgal
Son of cartoonist Michel Rouge (best known for Marshall Blueberry), Corentin Rouge has established himself in just a few years as a rising figure in the 9th art world. Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, he has made a name for himself with his expressive, cinematic style. With Thorgal Saga: Wendigo, he takes up the challenge of appropriating an emblematic universe while adding his own personal vision.
